Update wise, it just requires patience, I can go vanilla 2009 to fully updated without issues, as long as you know certain KB's to bypass issues caused by microsoft usage of update packs at a later date. Now it's on i7 6950X and RX6600, while it started on Phenom II X4 965 and HD6990. My win7 install is and went through two motherboards already (upgrades).
